Training for a 5 km race is a recommended way to give your fitness routine a kick-start this season for bodybuilding programs. These events allow you to support charity while giving you extra motivation to keep up with your fitness routine.

The relatively short races have grown in popularity across the country, and it's estimated that over 4 million people will participate in a 5K annually. The short distance makes the race an attainable goal for a wide variety of people, and an average adult can train up to run a 5K within about 10 weeks. For most people, just being able to make it across the finish line is a satisfying experience. Beginners typically finish a 5K race in around 30 minutes, while top distance runners can do it in about 15.

Casey Winsor is becoming famous in Gladstone, Australia for her winning bodybuilding routines. She has just added another trophy to a growing list of career achievements after a winning performance at the Australian Natural Bodybuilder's competition.

Winsor took home the trophy in the Figure Tall category at the 2011 Powerzone Nutrition ANB Asia Pacific International Championships as well. She waited nervously onstage as the top competitors were called one at a time, and as she didn't hear her name called her anxiety built. Winsor had been confident that she nailed her routine and she felt great about her body shape as well. The six months of exercise, training and restricted diet had really paid off, because she was finally voted number one in her category at a world class event.

US Army Sgt. Dan Kernan is following bodybuilding routines in preparation for a competition with four other men in the novice lightweight division of the 4th annual Allegheny Valley YMCA Strongest Man Contest in Harrison, Pennsylvania. His goal was to lift novice level weights before the competition, and he finally achieved it several weeks ago. He was inspired by other athletes who were lifting 255 pounds at the gym, and this helped him to finally achieve the 200 lb level.

The Strongest Man Contest features a series of five grueling events, including a fire truck pull, a farmer's walk, an overhead steel log press, a stone carry and an axle dead lift. In the fire truck pull, contestants mus pull a vintage 1931 fire truck that's estimated to weight 28,000 pounds for 50 feet in under 3 minutes.
